bent_the_world | (no subject)

[Korra's looking and sounding much more like herself when she finally returns to the network. She's leaning against a tree trunk, and a pair of chubby Pikachu are dozing on either side of her.]

So...I picked up these guys when they were all over the place a while ago. They're pretty much the laziest Pokemon I've ever met. I didn't even mean to catch them, they just ate a bunch of my poketreats and fell asleep on my sleeping bag and didn't leave. I call'em Tunnu and Orki. I don't know if they're twins, but they might as well be.

Uh...sorry I never called anybody back last month. Thanks for saying all those nice things, though. I'm okay. I got a lot of training done, saw some more of this world. It was good.

[There had been a lot of meditating and a lot of deep thinking, too. She'd needed that little break.]

Oh, and it looks like I'm gonna need someone else to help me with the Pokemon Games. My friend I was doing it with went home. So if anybody's good with organizing, that'd be great. I think I want to get that started.

They don't seem to regret the choice choice to stay with you. They're adorable, too.

Why would they? They get poketreats and sleep all day in my backpack, this is probably a dream come true for them.

It must be nice--they get spoiled all day, and their trainers absolutely adore them. At least, I can only speak for myself--but it seems that way for most everyone I've spoken with.

[ Like the little Pumpkaboo at her side, peeking up at the gear. Hello there! ]

I dunno if I adore these two... maybe if they start being useful in battles.

Yeah, they're pretty cute. It's a defense mechanism. They're pretty useless for battles, they don't have any interest.

Ha, you should see my Growlithe...

Hey Iqniq! Get your fluff over here!

[Korra calls off-screen to her Growlithe, who abandons bothering her Sentret and bounds into frame. He's exceptionally fluffy. And veryy squat and thick.]

This guy was my starter!

[Well, that's it. So much for manners. That is by far the squattest Growlithe he's ever seen in his life, a trait he's yet to see in the species, and he absolutely loses it. Komasan can only imagine how fluffy such a Growlithe would feel, how warm, how cuddly. It isn't fair that he can only witness him over a video feed, he just wants to pet so badly.

There's a deep inhale. And then shouting.]

MOOOOOOOOOOONNNGEEEE!!

[Even his name is adorable, this just isn't fair.]

H-He's your starter, zura?! You got to start with a Growlithe, zura?! Monge... You must of been so happy, zura...

Yup! I woke up with my own fire breathing tiger puppy! We're a pretty well matched pair. Aren't we?

[At that, she scoops Iqniq into her lap and buries her face in his fur. He squirms happily, tail wagging, loving the attention.]

And he's a real heavy hitter, in battles!

[ As one of those respondents, Yang notices the difference immediately, and her own spirit is lifted as a result. She, herself, isn't nearly as bruised up as when she made that call too (if that was even seen). ]

Well, my friend Twilight Sparkle and I thought it'd be great if trainers had a way to show off their skills and Pokemon without battling. Like endurance contests and races and talent competitions.

Ha! Well, I've always gotten along with them!

[Korra can't imagine any other starter for her. And she's seen and read about a lot of Pokemon by now. Iqniq suits her, and she suits him.]

He's gonna be huge when he evolves! And it'll probably be pretty soon, too...

[WELL, that wasn't a no, so she's officially a dog in his eyes. Gosh, talking to another dog who also loves Growlithes? This is the best day ever.]

Ah, that's up to you, zura! I thiiink they evolve with some kind of magic rock, so you have to buy it from the store, zura.

[On one hand, paying to evolve your Pokemon is kind of a pain. ...On the other, you're more or less paying for control over such a huge change. And in Growlithe's case, it is a huge change.]

But once he does, you can ride him anywhere, zura! Then you can get to cities so much faster, a-and you'll never be cold at night, zura!

Ohh, I get it. It sounds like fun!

Hmm, I'm still new to the whole Pokemon thing but Weiss and I did handle organizing our last school dance back home [ Yang smiled proudly. ] We did a pretty good job of it, too.

Even if they don't wish to battle, I'm sure they'll be valuable in some way--even if it's just being cute.

[It had been a while, and Lightning didn't know what to say the last time Korra was on the network... dealing with that kind of loss was different than losing a family member.
