You know, I've never been in a boat with another person just, to be in one, with someone. Any time with a single person I've spent was going over the Styx to the afterlife, guiding them there.
[As expected, there's the package of sweets as a Christmas present from Botan. But that's not all! It seems Korra got a necklace in Pidgey post today, looks like an ice stone.]
Korra--expert damsel rescuer,
I had a hard time thinking of what to get to sum up what an important piece in my life you've been with the madness we all deal with being here. Halloween was a bust, but I'm glad I got to spend it with you, not to mention the escapes to the island.
[New Year's Day, Korra will find a small package of mochi (colored pink, of course, though that's not the tradition) along with a card giving New Year's greetings. The card simply reads "Happy New Year, wish you were here" and contains a picture of Botan with her Pokemon. She's making a heart hands gesture and appears to be wearing a very special kimono, smiling bright as always.
The Fire Stone necklace she mentioned in her last letter to Korra is around her neck and unintentionally is brought attention to by Botan's gesture framing it.]

[Korra goes back and forth over the package all morning. She paces the length of her tiny house, which mostly means walking in a circle, staring at the contents on the table and debating what to do about them. About everything.]
[But she's been around and lived enough to know one thing: there's never any pro-bending match if both teams just stand on their starters and make vague gestures in each other's direction. One side has to do something.]
[Later in the evening, Korra sends a short text to Botan's gear.]
got your card. and everything else.
you know it doesn't take me too long to get to goldenrod.
[Unseen, but automatically, she clutches at the necklace. It takes a while for her to respond.]
You know you're always welcome, Korra.
["But I don't want to be a bother"? How is it being a bother?? Would she accept hearing something like that from one of her friends, no she wouldn't, so don't say that.]
Still got some leftover ice cream for milkshakes, after all!
Yeah, I'm a lifeguard in the islands and I do a fair amount of kicking Rocket butt in my spare time. Lots of giving Jennies reports and calling them to come pick dudes up. And I did some private security work before that, and the same thing. Lots of reports and calling Jennies.
There was a rocket attack a while back, during one of the gym leader events, and he told me about the Sandygast that was stolen from him. I think the Sandygast is unique enough that it might be possible to find it again.
So I've been talking to the Jennies and trying to figure out some of their policies on detaining Rockets, what happens to stolen pokemon in their custody, stuff like that. What usually happens with the Rockets you run into?
I'm Hank Anderson. I work out of Goldenrod at the moment. I've been running a volunteer rescue service and for the most part I've just been dealing with pokemon and younger trainers that got lost because of user error or environmental factors, not foul play. So this is the first time the need's come up.
Oh okay! That's pretty cool of you, it's nice to see other people helping out.
So I don't know all the details, I'm not a Jenny so I don't know all the red tape aspects, but I know they punish Rockets based on actual crimes and not just being Rockets. And they try and return any stolen Pokemon they confiscate to their original owners, but I don't know the exact process.
I haven't run into any Rockets with a Sandygast in the islands, I can tell you that much.
