Whoah!
[Hey, this thing works! Korra peers into the screen of her 'Gear with a puzzled expression, turning it this way and that before holding it up right in front of her so her face fills the screen entirely.]
What is this place? Because it's definitely not the spirit world. The lack of any spirits at all is a pretty big clue.
[And last thing she remembers, that was definitely where she'd been heading. With Asami. She's even still dressed exactly the same. It's like she stepped into the portal but instead of taking her to the field in the spirit world, it took her...here.]
[She's pretty sure spirit portals don't work that way. At all. And if that's what happened, she shouldn't be alone. She's not too freaked out yet - she hasn't been hurt, no one's holding her captive, everybody seems friendly if unhelpful, and the tiger puppy thing chewing it's feet on the ground next to her makes her grin. She's pretty sure she's not in any danger, but she has no idea what's going on. And wherever she is, her bending doesn't seem to be working right now. Not exactly the best circumstances.]
Can people really hear me through this? There's somebody I need to find...

[Instant joy breaks across Korra's face and her posture slumps a moment in relief. There she is. Safe and fine and somehow just not geographically right there.]
Where are you? I looked around this little town for a bit, but....
[No Asami. It's more of a relief than Korra can articulate, seeing her face on this kooky device.]
Are you okay?
no subject
I'm fine.
[ Start with that. ]
We aren't in the spirit world, first thing. This is some other kind of world entirely, and I've... been here for quite a while. More than a year, now. Time flows funny. The last thing I remember was... leaving for the spirit world. With you.
no subject
[Korra blinks. More than a year?]
Yeah. Yeah we just...did that... Or, I just did that?
[She doesn't bother asking what's going on, she knows Asami will explain everything.]
no subject
People just appear here. We don't really know why, but it's been happening for years. Bending doesn't work... Actually, it doesn't exist. But there are creatures called Pokémon. They're smarter than just plain animals, and they have abilities that are... kinda like bending, in some cases.
I'm sorry, I know it's a lot...
[ She still can't really manage to stop smiling. ]
no subject
[Not the animals part, the randomly appearing in some other world. Korra can accept that idea, at least.]
So...it's really been a year, since you last saw me?
[That's...well that's not the most awesome thing to hear. A year's a really long time. She can't keep the slight nervousness out of her voice. A lot can happen in a year.]
no subject
That's... where it gets weird.
...Weirder.
[ There isn't really a tactful way of going about this, is there? ]
You were here, for a little while. It happens, sometimes. People show up, then they leave, then they show up again without remembering ever being here in the first place.
[ Her face is apologetic. ]
no subject
[Well, they'd wanted an adventure and this is definitely an adventure. Not the one either of them had in mind, she's sure. Why did things always get weirder? They were just supposed to be going on a much-needed getaway. A private getaway.]
[She's still antsy over a year. She's somehow missed an entire year of Asami's life. At least an entire year. That's a really crummy start to a relationship.]
[Or...wait. What?]
I...was here?
[She reaches over to scoop Iqniq into her lap and hug him, frowning into the screen. She'd lost her memories? That was significantly less okay than everything else.]
no subject
[ Her frown softens when Korra scoops up her Growlithe. At least she isn't completely alone. ]
I don't know if it helps, but... it wasn't for very long. I could fill you in on what you missed. But just a fair warning that there may be people who know you already.
[ A small pause as her smile returns- ]
I missed you.
no subject
[Korra rakes a hand through her hair. This is a lot more to take in than she'd first thought.]
[She returns Asami's smile. Whatever. It'll all be fine. Asami's here, and Korra can tell everything is fine. At least with them.]
So no dashing, beautiful strangers stole you away while I've been apparently lost between dimensions?
no subject
[ The first point is what strikes her first, and Asami can't help if her cheeks turn a little pink. It's been a while... ]
Hey, I'm not that easy!
[ She pauses, then, her joking smile fading. ]
But... Full disclosure...
[ She can't be anything but completely honest. Not to Korra. Not after everything. ]
Usually when people are gone from here, they're gone. And we lose all of our memories when we go home. Usually, we... don't come back. And there is a girl. Nothing ever happened. Nothing has even close to happened. But I was missing you, and we are... close. But Elsa is always considerate, and she apparently didn't even know that girls could be into other girls before I told her.
[ A chuckle, at that. ]
But we've never even talked about the idea of there being anything between us. And Elsa isn't in the sort of place for a relationship, anyway, I don't think. I just... wanted you to know before anything might seem a little weird. I don't even know if she realizes there's kinda... something.
no subject
I'm glad you've had somebody to be here for you. Especially if I left.
[She knows it's nothing she has any power over, but she feels really bad about that. Losing her couldn't have been great for Asami, especially if it was generally accepted people didn't come back. Korra really is glad that she's had someone she can be close with and hopefully lean on.]
[Even if it was being made pretty clear that the mysterious Elsa probably was interested in something more. Relationship drama just never ends, apparently. But the way Asami's put it, it doesn't sound like it'll be an issue. Just maybe...a little weird.]
Thanks for filling me in. So where are you? And how do I get there as soon as possible?
no subject
[ Asami needs to emphasize that. She flounders for a moment. ]
Korra, I'm sorry, I... I know from your perspective it must seem...
[ She sighs, deflating somewhat. ]
I'm in Ecruteak City. There's a map on the device you're speaking to me with.
no subject
It just seems like a weird mess. We can deal with weird messes. It's kind of a thing we do.
[Korra gives her a smile.]
Is there an instruction guide for this thing?
no subject
No, but it's pretty intuitive, and the people who haven't just arrived can be helpful with directions. I can meet you along the road, somewhere halfway. I'll just have to talk to the others.
no subject
[Time to fiddle with this thing and work out the map.]

[She doesn't mind walking at all, she'd just like to be with Asami as soon as she can. There's so much to talk about, more than she wants to over some telephone with a mover screen in it.]
no subject
Do you think you'll be all right?
[ Asami basically KNOWS she will be, but... she just wants to ask. ]
no subject
[And give her some time to think everything over.]
no subject
Okay. Call me tonight?

[ Asami blows a kiss at the 'gear. ]
[...Hopefully no one saw that. ]
